TTTJ Triumphs in the ESC Season One SF6 Championship: A New Champion Rises

March 21, 2024

The curtains have closed on an electrifying inaugural season of the Esports Championship Street Fighter 6 series, culminating in a finale that was nothing short of legendary. Over the season, players from around Australia and New Zealand battled for supremacy, but it was TTTJ who rose above in the final chapter, overcoming the favourite, DOOKLYNNN, to claim the title of Season Champion.

A Journey Through Season One

Season One was a testament to the skill, determination, and passion of the SF6 community. From DOOKLYNNN‘s early dominance, winning all three qualifiers, to the surprise upsets and the emergence of formidable talents, the season was a rollercoaster of high-stakes competition and thrilling gameplay.

The Championship Final

Entering as the number one seed, DOOKLYNNN was the favourite. Yet, in a twist of fate, TTTJ battled through the Losers Bracket into the Championship Final, to set up a rematch of the Qualifier 1 Grand Final. In a breathtaking series of matches, TTTJ defeated DOOKLYNNN 2-0, forcing a reset and ultimately claiming victory in a nail-biting final round 2-1 win during the reset final.

Interviews with the Finalists

After an epic Championship Final, we caught up with the two titans of ESC Season One SF6. Hear directly from the new champion, TTTJ, and the ever-dangerous DOOKLYNNN as they share their experiences and insights.

DOOKLYNNN:

You had a great first season! What was your favourite part, and what felt the most challenging?

My favourite part was winning, the challenge/s was to make sure I woke up on time to enter.

You came so close to winning the championship title! What was going through your mind during the match?

As the match was happening, I treated it like I would any other set. I tried to stay as cool and calm as possible so I could play as best as I possibly could in the moment.

TTTJ had a fantastic tournament run. What’s your analysis of their gameplay, and what made them such a strong opponent?

I destroyed TTTJ in the very first qualifier that we played in. However, I knew after his loss to me, it would spark something inside him, and he would return to battle a beast. There was no surprise that I lost to him.

What are the key lessons you’ll take away from the Championship Final into Season Two?

There aren’t any lessons I don’t already know. All I can do is do whatever I’ve been doing to become such an absolute beast at fighting games and continue doing that (but maybe practise more) ;P

Season Two introduces significant changes, including a longer season and new qualifier formats with double elimination. What do you think about the changes, and will we see you back to defend your dominance in Season Two?

I will be back for sure, single or double elimination doesn’t matter to me. I’ll annihilate anything that’s in my path to victory.

TTTJ:

You’re the ESC Season One Street Fighter 6 Champion! How does it feel?

Feels really good to take out the first ESC Season Championship! Can never feel bad winning!

Take us through your mindset during those intense moments in the Championship Final. How did you stay focused under pressure?

My mindset is to always play like I’m playing anyone else and to not get nervous or I’ll start making mistakes, deep breathes!

What do you think was the key to your victory over DOOKLYNNN?

After a devastating loss in our last encounter, I had to go learn the JP matchup.

How did you get started in competitive Street Fighter? What keeps you passionate about the game?

Started playing in the arcades and never looked back! The competition, the players and the community!

Are there any players you look up to or aspire to compete against?

Growing up Daigo and Tokido were definitely the bigger inspirations, and I’ll always excited to compete in the international competition!

Any advice for aspiring gamers looking to break into competitive esports?

Be yourself! Play to your personality and pick a character that best suits you!

Season Two introduces significant changes, including a longer season and new qualifier formats with double elimination. What do you think about the changes, and will we see you back to defend your championship in Season Two?

Interested to see how the changes turn out! I’ll definitely be trying to defend my title, will be interested to see who rises up!

What are your overall thoughts on the Esports Championship?

Fun to watch, fun to play in, fun to win, what more can you ask for!
