Introducing Rarewolf: The Voice Behind ESC’s Thrilling Battles

We’re thrilled to announce that Emily, better known in the gaming world as Rarewolf, will be the voice of our very first Esports Championship (ESC) season! Rarewolf brings energy, insight, and enthusiasm to every match, capturing the essence of what makes ESC competitions so electrifying.

The Journey of Rarewolf: Mastering the Mic in Dual Roles

Emily, already known in the esports circuits as ‘Rarewolf’, is elevating her game with ESC. With experience as a host, she’s been the face and voice of other gaming events. Now, she’s taking on a thrilling challenge as she combines her role as a host with the dynamic position of a shoutcaster for ESC’s Season One. This dual role will showcase her versatility and bring a cohesive narrative experience to our viewers, as she guides them through the excitement of the tournaments, from opening ceremonies to the final play-by-play.

A Conversation with Rarewolf: Insights and Inspirations

Why did you choose to become a shoutcaster, and what inspired you to also take on the role of hosting for ESC?

It looked like an entertaining gig and I couldn’t let all the boys in the scene have all the fun so I decided to jump in too aha. When you guys asked me to host my own broadcast I was anxious, but I do want to always try what makes me nervous!

What sets ESC apart from other esports platforms for you, especially now that you’re involved in both hosting and shoutcasting?

I don’t really have a lot of experience on this side of the scene but one thing that caught my attention was how different the ESC was. Their goals, formats and vision for their broadcasts and tournaments was insane and I dig that.

How do you prepare for a big tournament, and are there any unique challenges that come with juggling both hosting and shoutcasting?

Oh gosh so I always have a little notebook on me and I write down my intros and outros and repeat them over and over again until I don’t have to think about it. I would say the most unique challenge I’ve come across so far is talking too fast! I get super excited and I just shoot out words and I just need to slow down and let myself think ahah.

Can you share a memorable moment from your time as an esports host that you think will influence your approach to shoutcasting?

Probably the time when Formal Casting and I had to commentate a CSGO game together when he had never played the game before and I have never casted it. I hope the VOD doesn’t exist anymore ahaha.

What games are you currently playing, and what’s your all-time favourite? How do these preferences inform your work in esports?

Oh my gosh, I’ve been smashing out PalWorld like a freak. I also play a lot of Rust and ARK so this game was super fun to play! My main games right now are probably PalWorld, OverWatch 2 and Minecraft. Honestly, most of the games I play I just relax and do what I want to, I like to chill out when I play video games because shoutcasting is really exciting and intense!!

In your view, how does combining the roles of hosting and shoutcasting enhance the esports experience for viewers?

In my view, I think it really depends on the video game and what the goal of the tournament and broadcasters are, but I think in this case it definitely adds more of a personal touch to the broadcast and it’s like watching your favourite streamers play games and be hype and talk.

What message do you have for aspiring talents who are interested in pursuing a career in esports, whether in shoutcasting, hosting, or both?

ENGAGE IN ALL THINGS THAT COME YOUR WAY! Put your hand up to do things that scare you! Throw yourself into walls until doors open!! Do what you want to do and be different!

What can fans expect from your dual role in the upcoming ESC season, and how do you plan to bring your unique energy to both hosting and shoutcasting?

Fans can expect some entertaining commentary on SF6 and COD that also appeals to inexperienced spectators. I’m not looking to be the next genius analyst in the games I cast, I’m just an energetic person and I will absolutely put on a show.

How do you see the future of esports entertainment evolving, and what role do you wish to play in it as both a host and shoutcaster?

I think a lot of people have negative opinions on the future of esports entertainment, that it’s declining. I believe the opposite in fact, I just think we are not changing, just doing what has always been done. I don’t have a lot of experience in this side of esports but I am a gamer and a spectator and I know what I like to watch and what I would like to see. I want to do things differently, I want to try lots of new things and put the excitement back into the scene.
